Developer Rights
JIJ supports healthy developer-client handoffs where the person who paid for and owns the website can control the hosting and billing relationship.
Developer Access
Developers may need access to hosting, files, databases, DNS, or CMS tools during a project. Access should be appropriate to the work and reviewed when the project is complete.
Client Ownership
When a site is ready for handoff, JIJ encourages developers and agencies to use the ownership transfer process so the client can take over account control and billing.
Ongoing Maintenance
Some clients want the developer to stay involved. In those cases, developer access can remain documented while the client still owns the account relationship.
Billing Responsibility
Hosting and domain billing should be tied to the party responsible for ongoing service. The transfer form helps clarify when billing moves from developer or agency to client.
Dispute Avoidance
Clear records, signatures, and account ownership details reduce confusion later. JIJ may require verification before making sensitive access or billing changes.
